Mannok has agreed to integrate HVS’ hydrogen-powered vehicle into their fleet

A new partnership has been created between Mannok and Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS). This partnership will involve Mannok trialing HVS’ zero emission, fuel cell-powered heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) within their fleet.

The aim for this trial is to kickstart Mannok’s journey towards achieving Net Zero by 2050 throughout its operations. This kickstart will be provided by HVS, in providing Mannok with the initial conversion of its fleet to zero emissions. This integration has been placed under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the vehicles will be integrated once they are available in late 2025.

It was in 2023 that HVS made several announcements around the progress being made with hydrogen-powered HGVs and their plan surrounding this movement. The plan they spoke about is a five-point plan and it illustrates the necessary steps for accelerating the transition to hydrogen-powered vehicles. These steps are green hydrogen production, infrastructure, legislation and regulatory framework changes and finally, STEM skilled workforce training.

In 2023, alongside revealing this plan, HVS also revealed a new offer for Trucks as a Service (TaaS) as they were in partnership with Zeti and Gravis Capital management Limited. They offered this service to customers of HVS’ fuel cell trucks.

The company’s Chief Operations Officer, Kevin Lunney, commented, ‘the integration of the vehicles will represent a “crucial step towards achieving Net Zero carbon goals.”’

Chief Commercial Officer at HVS, John McLeister, said, “This collaboration represents a significant stride towards decarbonising the transportation sector and underscores our shared commitment to sustainability.”
