Innovating your industrial process safely, reducing footprint and red tape
)
Decarbonizing heavy industry (refineries, steel manufacturing, chemical plants, etc.) is not only a burden, but can be an opportunity to make your process more flexible and future-proof. Innovating in terms of energy management, pollution control, supply chain reliability, data security and compliance to codes & standards is unavoidable in a globalized but highly dynamic and socially engaged market.
With a projected value of $267 billion over 494 registered projects in North America and Europe (total CAPEX value with start-up before 2030), there is a lot of appetite for Power-to-X and Blue Hydrogen. These projects will generally deploy in highly industrial contexts where safety, quality management and compliance are as crucial as the avoidance of downtime. For innovative technologies and infrastructure that aim to turn renewable electrons into valuable molecules (Power-to-X) and/or fossil fuels to Hydrogen with carbon capture (Blue Hydrogen), this is a challenge also in terms of process integration. Legacy processes and procedures are ill-matched with the relative paucity of the normative framework for hydrogen handling as a value carrier.
The Kiwa Group has gathered years of experience in the clean industry transition. This has led to extensive expertise in hydrogen production and conversion, high-pressure and cryogenic handling – but also on how to guide the process from design to commissioning and operation of assemblies and processes, especially in view of safety throughout, compliance to regulations international and local, conformity to standards and best practices. Balancing CapEx and OpEx to maximize efficiency and lower the total cost of ownership is where we excel.
More than 85% of all Power-to-X and Blue Hydrogen projects in the U.S. occur along the Gulf Coast, in Texas and Louisiana. Raba Kistner, a Kiwa subsidiary is strategically positioned in this region, with established offices and a strong local presence in the energy sector. Raba Kistner has assembled a multi-disciplinary team that can assist in Hydrogen project development from conception and pre-FEED planning through construction, leveraging best-in-class know-how from the European market and Kiwa’s decades of Hydrogen experience.
By unburdening project developers and asset owners of the unavoidable work related to compliance & conformity, safety and certification, audits and inspection, the Kiwa Group aims to become a trusted knowledge partner for the implementation of Power-to-X and Blue Hydrogen in the transitioning of industry to the future. Creating trust and driving progress.
