Hyundai revealed their latest hydrogen and software-driven strategy

Hyundai Motor company recently presented their latest ideas for a hydrogen-powered, software-driven transformation strategy, which is focused on improving future mobility applications.

Having been inspired by the software-driven transformation currently taking place throughout the entire Hyundai group, the company developed their new ‘software-defines everything’ (SDx) strategy. This plan focuses on the use of advanced software and AI, to transform all moving devices, fleets and ecosystems into valuable assets. This new idea aligns with the company’s pre-established brand vision, which is, ‘progress for humanity,’ whilst also bringing with it a new theme of ‘ease every way.’ Combining these two themes highlights Hyundai’s central aim to produce a comfortable and peaceful living environment and push forwards, through this, their core values which are freedom, safety and fairness.

This original approach was revealed at the CES 2024, which was held in Las Vegas, in the US, and started the ‘ease every way’ theme. Hyundai also presented their blueprint for the innovative technology at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre, this blueprint included details such as, how the development of this technology would create a hydrogen energy ecosystem, along with a vision for software and AI.

This technological development follows in the footsteps of the company’s previous projects and aligns with Hyundai’s goal to commit to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. They also have a goal to use 100% renewable energy in their overseas factories by 2045, with this being pushed further to every group entity by 2050. These goals are supported by the company’s clear RE100 roadmap and it is also clear that these projects require hydrogen to be achieved.

Along with their presentation on their new technology ideas, Hyundai also spoke about their waste-to-hydrogen production and hydrogen value chain, plus SDV technologies and future mobility concepts. Furthermore, in September of 2023, Hyundai made it clear that they are committed to working with hydrogen, as that was when they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to begin the production process of clean hydrogen, through the use of biogas.
